UK travel insurance broker enters liquidation
The travel insurance specialist, MPI Brokers, has ceased trading following a creditors’ voluntary liquidation, with its renewal book transferred and customer arrangements put in place
Michael Pettifer Insurance Brokers Limited, better known as MPI Brokers, has entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has confirmed. The Surrey-based travel insurance specialist ceased trading on 21 November 2025, after more than two decades in the market.
The firm was authorised and regulated by the FCA to sell and arrange insurance policies to both leisure and corporate clients. Alongside standard travel insurance, MPI Brokers offered niche covers including ski, long-stay, backpacker and activity-specific insurance, as well as liability and crisis management products.
The FCA has appointed Robert Cooksey of Bridgestones Limited as liquidator, and customers with enquiries about existing claims or complaints are directed to contact Bridgestones.
As part of the liquidation process, Robins Row Limited has acquired MPI Brokers’ renewal book and will handle ongoing policy renewals and customer transitions. Policyholders seeking renewal information are advised to contact Robins Row directly.
The regulator reiterated that while MPI Brokers remains subject to FCA oversight, the insolvency process itself sits outside the FCA’s direct regulatory remit. Customers are also warned to be vigilant against potential scams impersonating the firm or its liquidators.
In late December, UK-based assistance company Mayday Repatriation Services ceased trading.
