Turkmenistan parliament debates e-visa law
Turkmenistan is looking to create an e-visa system that would enable travellers to visit the country more easily
Turkmenistan’s parliament is currently debating a bill titled ‘On Amendments and Additions to the Law of Turkmenistan on Migration’.
The law, if passed, would lay foundations for the modernisation of the country’s border controls, streamlining processes and allowing the implementation of an e-visa system.
Turkmen authorities have stated that the country’s State Migration Service is currently in the process of modernising information systems for “data recording, processing, and storage”.
The new bill would build on this, creating “standards related to the issuance of electronic visas”, allowing “foreign citizens and stateless persons to enter, stay within … and leave Turkmenistan, as well as cross the borders of Turkmenistan” more easily.
New Zealand recently relaxed its own visa rules for digital nomads.
