Canadian insurer TuGo has launched Covid-19 Insurance for Canadians planning to fly abroad during the pandemic

TuGo’s newest insurance product covers Covid-19 emergency medical care and quarantine expenses up to CA$500,000 if the traveller tests positive for, and is diagnosed with, Covid-19 while on their trip. It also offers a trip interruption benefit if the Government of Canada’s current Level 3 ‘avoid non-essential travel’ advisory changes to a Level 4 ‘avoid all travel’ during the trip and the traveller chooses to come home early.

Some Canadians might have to travel during the pandemic

“While we recommend following the Government of Canada’s Level 3 travel advisory, TuGo also recognises that family, business or other reasons may require some Canadians to travel abroad during the pandemic,” said Brad Dance, TuGo’s Chief Customer Officer and the Travel Health Insurance Association’s Past President. “For those planning to travel, they should take time to research the various Covid-19 insurance options that have come to market in recent weeks, to ensure they best fit their needs.”

TuGo Travel Insurance is available for Canadians, visitors to Canada and international students, through its national network of insurance partners.

This new cover comes as Canadian travel insurance losses have been felt across the market, with travel reduced through October. With products that offer Covid cover, however, the only way is up when it comes to traveller confidence.
