New hire

The company has announced Michael Storozhev as its new Chief Underwriting Officer, ahead of its planned relaunch

Storozhev joins TravelCard from fellow Australian travel insurer Cover-More, where he was General Manager for Strategic Underwriting for Australia and New Zealand (AUNZ) and Head of Global Insurance Products and Underwriting. He previously served as the company’s Head of Underwriting for Asia between 2019 and 2021, and Senior Underwriter between 2016 and 2019.

Storozhev has also previously worked on the actuarial teams at Insurance Australia Group (iag) and the Royal Automobile Club Queensland (RACQ).

“As Chief Underwriting Officer, he will be responsible for underwriting and pricing and he will also be leading the charge on our innovation agenda in travel insurance and beyond,” said CEO Peter Klemt.

Mr Storozhev added that: “There is a huge opportunity in the travel insurance space for a new market entrant to shake things up and I can’t wait to drive a unique customer experience with TravelCard’s real-time travel insurance proposition.”

TravelCard recently announced plans to relaunch travel insurance sales in the second quarter of 2023, after three years of ‘hibernation’ in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. TravelCard says it will stick to its “broker-first” distribution strategy and will look at other channels, including direct sales, at a later stage.
