Thailand named as 2024’s top adventure destination
Travel insurer World Nomads has named Thailand as the most popular adventure destination for UK travellers in 2024, according to an analysis of its policy sales
World Nomads credited Thailand’s popularity with travellers in part to “improved sustainable tourism developments”, such as reef-cleaning initiatives in Ko Racha Yai, and enhanced accessibility – including British Airways’ new routes from London Gatwick to Thailand.
The country was especially popular with 18–24-year-olds. The insurer added that this demographic’s love of adventure was further supported by its preference for the World Nomads Explorer Plan.
Over half (60%) of all UK customers in this age group chose this plan – which covers a wide range of activities and strong coverage for personal belongings.
Other top destinations this year include Australia and Cambodia, which the company stated reflects “a desire for immersive experiences in diverse cultures and landscapes”.
World Nomads also announced the launch of its new Travel Wiser online travel guide in December.
