Spain drops all third country Covid-19 border restrictions
Return to pre-pandemic levels of border control allows travellers from outside the European Union (EU) to enter without proof of vaccination or testing
The Spanish Ministry of the Interior said: “As of 21 October, the health control measures for passengers from non-EU or Schengen associated countries are without effect.”
Consequently, travellers from outside the EU – from so-called ‘third countries’ – can now enter Spain without presenting proof of full Covid vaccination, a negative test or recent recovery.
The removal of these measures comes in response to the high levels of vaccination and shrinking numbers of coronavirus cases, both within the country and worldwide.
The government had previously announced its intention to retain the measures until at least 15 November, having extended their duration in late September.
This latest update comes exactly five months after the Spanish government lifted its ban on third country travellers on 21 May.
