Sensible Weather launches high winds weather guarantee
The parametric solution is being piloted at select golf and ski resorts, and will be rolled out more broadly this autumn
Parametric insurtech firm Sensible Weather has announced the launch of a new High Winds Guarantee, which offers automatic payouts to travellers in the event of activity-disrupting outdoor trips.
The guarantee is tailored to those planning outdoor trips or activities on their travels, such as skiing or golf, where high wind may prevent them from going forward. It joins the company’s other existing guarantees for rain, snow, sleet, and heatwaves.
The guarantee leverages windspeed data to calculate the strongest average wind speed over a one-hour period. If the wind meets or exceeds the set threshold during the policyholder’s covered dates, reimbursement is awarded automatically.
The High Winds Guarantee is being piloted at select golf resorts and ski destinations, with a broader rollout planned for the autumn.
