Sapiens expands AI strategy with ADIA investment and new London headquarters

The insurance software provider has secured new investment and opened a London HQ as it accelerates its AI-driven automation strategy across core insurance operations

Sapiens International Corporation has secured a new strategic investment and outlined an expanded artificial intelligence (AI) roadmap for the insurance sector, alongside plans to establish a global headquarters in London with AI-focused customer facilities.

A wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) has acquired a significant minority stake in Sapiens, supporting its push to expand AI-driven insurance technology.

The investment follows Sapiens’ acquisition by private equity firm Advent and is intended to accelerate its ‘Insurance Agentification’ programme, which focuses on automating core insurance workflows, including underwriting, claims, policy administration, pricing, risk management, and billing.

As part of the strategy, Sapiens has opened a global headquarters at Space House in Holborn, London, which will also function as an AI Customer Experience Lab. The facility is designed to allow insurers to test and evaluate agentic AI tools in areas such as claims handling and underwriting processes.

The company said a second AI Customer Experience Lab would be launched in the US within the next year, reflecting continued expansion in the North American market.

Sapiens, which provides software to more than 600 insurers globally, said its agentic platforms are built to integrate with existing core systems through a central framework designed to support AI deployment across insurance operations.

The company said the approach was intended to reduce manual processes and improve consistency and efficiency in core functions, while enabling insurers to experiment with AI applications in controlled environments.

Mike Ettling, Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive of Sapiens, said AI would reshape competitive dynamics in insurance, enabling faster decision-making and more responsive customer engagement.

“AI-powered hyper-relevance is the new competitive advantage for insurers,” he said. “This will revolutionise how insurers compete, how they go to market, and, ultimately, how they serve the people who buy their products.”
