Plum adds embedded travel insurance to Max plan through Qover partnership
A new embedded travel insurance rollout highlights how fintech subscription apps are bundling protection with everyday money management to deepen customer value
London-based personal finance app Plum has added embedded worldwide travel insurance to its Max subscription tier through a partnership with Belgian insurtech Qover, as it looks to position itself as a broader financial platform rather than solely a savings tool.
The cover is included in Plum’s Max plan, which costs £14.99 per month in the UK. The product is underwritten with backing from Aspire and Lloyd’s of London, while claims are managed through Qover’s artificial intelligence (AI) driven digital process. Users and their travelling family members are covered for medical emergencies, lost baggage, delays, and trip cancellations, with all policy features accessible within the Plum app. Customers can review terms, download travel certificates, and submit or track claims without leaving the platform.
Quentin Colmant, CEO and Co-Founder of Qover, said: “Plum is a great example of a fintech that genuinely puts customer value first. By embedding protection directly into the Max experience, they’re giving users peace of mind in an effortless way.”
Plum said the launch is rooted in customer behaviour around travel spending. Rashmi D’Souza, Vice President of Product and Design at Plum, said: “By including insurance in our Max plan, Plum can provide extra protection during those important moments. It helps ensure our customers can maintain their financial resilience should the unexpected happen.”
The partnership underlines continued convergence between fintech and insurtech as platforms seek deeper engagement and added value within subscription models.
Indonesian digital bank Jenius has partnered with Zurich to offer travel coverage via its app.
