nib announces changes from January 2021
nib Travel Group (nib Travel) is to resume selling new travel insurance policies in Australia from January 2021, and brings new Covid-related cover to its products
From January 2021, nib Travel will be selling travel insurance policies that include cover for medical expenses, some coronavirus-related cancellation and quarantine expenses if a traveller is diagnosed with Covid-19 on their journey. The new product will be rolled out across all nib Travel brands starting with Travel Insurance Direct and will also be available for World Nomads and other nib Travel branded policies from early 2021.
The product further offers a special provision of cancellation coverage to those working in healthcare, aged care or law enforcement, should they be required to return to work.
nib Travel Chief Executive Officer Anna Gladman noted that people had demonstrated a demand for Covid-related cover in a recent survey, and that people were looking to travel both domestically and internationally. In fact, 61 per cent of Aussies are planning on exploring their own backyard in the next 12 months, Gladman said. As such, nib’s offering covers travellers planning both domestic and overseas trips.
“Travel has proven to be an important driver of economic prosperity all over the world and it is important we do everything we can to give people the confidence to book holidays and get the global tourism industry back on its feet,” Gladman added.
SureSave and nib combine
In addition, the company is combining its SureSave and nib Travel brands into one entity – a shift that will take effect from 20 January 2021, and will see existing SureSave partners transitioned to nib Travel.
“Importantly, this is just a change to the brand name; we’ll still have the same team on hand to support our partners and any ongoing policy maintenance as we move forward into 2021,” Gladman explained. “We’ll be in touch with our partners in early January to assist them with the transition to nib Travel insurance.”
