New hospital opens in Macau
The Macau Union Hospital partially opened to patients following a ceremony on 20 December
The hospital, formerly referred to as the Islands District Medical Complex, will have around 800 beds when it fully opens. The new name was announced at the opening ceremony.
The hospital is managed by the Beijing-based Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and will be the largest healthcare facility in the city when it fully opens.
The Macau Union Hospital serve both the city’s general population and international travellers – it is hoped that it will eventually serve as the centrepiece of Macau’s medical tourism industry.
The Longhua Hospital also recently opened a new 500-bed healthcare facility in Shanghai.
