New Dubai hospital to open in December
Aster DM Healthcare has contracted property developer Dubai Developments to build a new 126-bed medical facility
The hospital, which will be known as the Medcare Royal Hospital, will be located in the in Al Qusais area of the city of Dubai, in the UAE, and is slated to be fully operational by December of this year.
It will boast 31,098m2 of floor space, and will be the fourth Medcare hospital in the city – as well as being the fifth in the UAE as a whole. It will be divided into two buildings – a three storey hospital and a six-storey parking building.
The facility will initially offer advanced care in gastroenterology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics and sports injuries, and minimally invasive surgery. However, Aster DM Healthcare added that further services such as organ transplants, nuclear medicine, and oncology radiation will be introduced at a subsequent date.
The hospital is expected to be popular with medical tourists. According to Dr Azad Moopen, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare: “We are witnessing a significant increase in demand for treatment of specialised care among the affluent population in Dubai.
“The strategic location, offering easy connectivity to the MENA region and Africa for over a billion people, is making Dubai an emerging destination for medical tourism. The new Medcare Royal Hospital, situated in close proximity to the Dubai International Airport and premium residential communities, will help meet this growing demand,” he added.
Medcare’s Women and Children Hospital was awarded the Gold Seal Accreditation as a Centre of Excellence for Endometriosis Multidisciplinary Care earlier this year.
