NatWest expands packaged travel insurance offering with health services
Virtual GP, mental health, and physiotherapy services have been added to accounts offering travel insurance and other protection benefits
NatWest has expanded the health and travel benefits available through its packaged bank accounts, combining travel insurance with services including virtual GP appointments and mental health support.
The UK bank said its refreshed Reward accounts were designed to bring health, travel, insurance, and lifestyle services together within a single product.
Reward Silver, which costs £12 a month, includes travel and mobile phone insurance alongside newly introduced virtual GP and mental health services. Customers also receive 3GB of travel data each year.
The £23-a-month Reward Platinum account includes worldwide travel insurance and UK breakdown cover, as well as family mobile phone insurance. New health services include virtual GP appointments, mental health support, and physiotherapy.
NatWest said customer research involving more than 3,000 respondents found that health services were among the benefits most valued by consumers considering packaged accounts, with 50% identifying digital GP appointments as a priority.
Des McDaid, Managing Director of Everyday Banking at NatWest, said: “We’ve brought together the health, travel, insurance, and lifestyle benefits that customers use and value most, alongside spending rewards, so they can access more of what matters to them in one place.”
Travel and health benefits converge
The changes also extend to NatWest’s higher-tier Premier Reward Black account, which already includes travel and mobile phone insurance.
The £39-a-month account now includes virtual GP access, mental health support, physiotherapy, expert medical opinion, and an annual health check, alongside 5GB of monthly travel data.
An independent analysis commissioned by NatWest compared 16 packaged bank accounts and found that fewer than 20% offered health and wellness benefits.
NatWest said customers should also check individual product eligibility, limits, exclusions, and terms and conditions when assessing the benefits available.
Elsewhere, recent regulatory changes in Australia have prompted several major banks to alter the travel insurance benefits offered to credit card customers.
