Most Indian travellers looking to purchase travel insurance
The Allianz Travel Index 2025 also found that a quarter of those looking to travel internationally from India were interested in visiting parts of Europe
Most Indians (85%) planning to travel internationally in 2025 intend to purchase travel insurance for their next trip, according to the results of the Allianz Travel Index 2025.
The report, conducted on behalf of Allianz by Kantar Consumer Link, surveyed over 1,000 Indian adults to understand their holiday aspirations and preferences. However, it noted that this figure was skewed towards travellers on higher incomes.
Additionally, 43% of those surveyed who intend to travel said they were more likely to purchase insurance from a travel website, while just 18% said that they would prefer to buy directly from a travel insurer.
Additionally, over half (61%) of those purchasing travel insurance said that they were doing so “for their own security and peace of mind”.
Cost, safety, and weather are key travel concerns
For those not looking to travel in 2025, cost was a factor for 84% of those surveyed. Personal safety (49%) and extreme weather events (48%) were also significant concerns.
The report found that those aged 50 or older were less worried about their personal safety than younger travellers.
Additionally, higher-earning travellers were more likely to express concerns about flight cancellations and delays, at 42%.
Europe is a popular destination for Indians
A quarter (25%) of Indians looking to travel internationally this year said that they wanted to travel to the UK or Europe for their next holiday.
A further 18% intend to visit other Asian countries, while 16% said that they were looking to visit Australia, New Zealand, or various other Pacific islands.
The Medical Travel Company (TMTC), the BAPIO Training Academy (BTA), and Marengo Asia Hospitals recently signed a global partnership to promote medical tourism to India.
