Mandatory travel insurance for Mexico regions
SB Realtors and Novamar Insurance Mexico have launched travel insurance with medical coverage for foreign visitors travelling into Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit in Mexico, including Covid-19 cover
Underwritten by MAPFRE and supported by the SANMARÉ Clinic and Hospitales Joya, the mandatory insurance is available for people up to the age of 75, with no lower age limit. It will provide:
- Emergency medical assistance up to US$350,000
- Emergency medical transportation up to $50,000
- Repatriation for medical reasons up to $30,000
- Funeral repatriation up to $30,000
- Expenses for family members in case they have to accompany the patient
The insurance costs $51 for seven-day coverage, and can be upgraded to cover 15-, 30-, 60-, 90-, 120- and 180-day trips. It can also be upgraded to cover those aged between 76 and 86 years old.
Direct billing with hospitals and local doctors
An innovative aspect of the cover is that direct billing is available – giving travellers peace of mind when travelling to Mexico. With medical-related fraud in the Mexico region an ongoing problem for international insurers, having this arrangement set up directly with local hospitals provides a nifty and efficient solution, one that sidesteps billing hassles and also ensures insureds are assisted in a timely manner.
“True to our aim of promoting Vallarta and Nayarit internationally, and marking the leadership in the industry, we thought and launched a comprehensive product to respond to the new demands caused by Covid-19,” said Alexis Silva, founder/CO-CEO of SB Realtors.
Andalucia in Spain is also among the destinations now looking to provide cover for medical assistance to those visiting the region from international destinations.
