Linkage Assurance launches insurance package for Nigerians abroad
DiasporaCare+ combines travel, home, motor, and holiday injury insurance for Nigerians living overseas while maintaining financial and family ties at home
Nigeria’s Linkage Assurance has launched an insurance package aimed at Nigerians living overseas, combining travel cover with protection for property and other interests they retain in their home country.
DiasporaCare+ brings four products under a single proposition: Diaspora Travel Insurance, Diaspora Home Protection, Diaspora Auto Insurance, and Diaspora Holiday Injury Insurance.
The insurer said the product was developed in response to the protection needs of Nigerians who live and work overseas but continue to have financial, family, and economic connections with Nigeria.
The proposition highlights the potential for insurers to develop products around increasingly mobile populations whose insurance requirements span more than one country.
Rather than focusing solely on protection during an international trip, DiasporaCare+ combines travel-related cover with insurance for risks located in the policyholder’s country of origin.
Daniel Braie, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Linkage Assurance, said the launch formed part of the insurer's strategy to increase insurance penetration and develop products for customers both within Nigeria and overseas.
“DiasporaCare+ is about giving Nigerians abroad greater confidence that the people and interests they care about at home can have access to meaningful insurance protection,” Braie noted. “We are extending the value of insurance beyond geographical boundaries and providing a dependable bridge between our diaspora community and home.”
The launch reflects a broader product-development opportunity for insurers serving diaspora populations, where customers may require protection for international travel alongside homes, vehicles and other financial commitments in their country of origin.
Linkage said the proposition formed part of its strategy to identify emerging customer segments and develop insurance products around their specific risks and expectations.
