King Faisal Specialist Hospital drives clinical gains through advanced nursing roles
The Riyadh-based institution is reshaping patient care by integrating advanced nursing roles with technology, research, and global best practice
King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC) has expanded advanced nursing roles, reporting measurable improvements in patient outcomes. New initiatives include nurse-led clinics that broaden access to specialist care, and a venous thromboembolism prevention programme that uses real-time dashboards to track risk and improve safety.
In 2023, the hospital trained more than 1,200 nursing and allied health professionals through internships and targeted programmes such as the Nursing Oncology Diploma. Nurses are also contributing to research, quality improvement projects, and international forums.
The institution’s nursing work has been recognised by organisations including the American Nurses Credentialing Centre, the Saudi Patient Safety Center, and Sigma. KFSHRC has also been ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 15th worldwide among academic medical centres for the third year running and was named the region’s most valuable healthcare brand in the 2025 Brand Finance report.
Earlier this year KFSHRC announced the modernisation of its Biobank Centre.
