Intrepid Travel joins Safer Tourism Foundation pledge
Adventure operator joins independent safety initiative to strengthen traveller risk and prevention standards
Independent charity the Safer Tourism Foundation has announced that adventure travel company Intrepid Travel has joined its Safer Tourism Pledge, strengthening its commitment to managing traveller risk, health and safety.
Intrepid Travel operates more than 900 small-group trips across over 120 countries and is B Corp certified. Joining the Safer Tourism Pledge adds independently validated safety commitments to its operations.
The pledge sets industry-developed standards covering safety systems, traveller information, responsiveness to concerns, and data sharing. Participating companies also commit to working collaboratively to improve health and safety standards across their operations and supply chains.
Charlie Newman, Global Safety Manager at Intrepid Travel, said: “Intrepid has long prioritised responsible travel, and safety is a major part of that commitment. We’re proud to sign up to the Safer Tourism Pledge, reinforcing our duty of care.”
As part of the programme, Intrepid will collaborate with other signatories to identify emerging risks and share anonymised incident data. The Foundation uses this data, drawn from more than 10 million trips annually across its partner network, to analyse root causes and prevent harm.
While UK holidaymakers generally feel safe abroad, new data shows their optimism may be masking rising risks, according to the Safer Tourism Foundation’s 2025 Travel Behaviour Risk Index.
