International patients regain access to Taiwan
The country’s Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that international patients would again be allowed to seek medical care in Taiwan from 1 March 2021
International patients seeking treatment in areas of healthcare except those related to checkups and cosmetic surgery may once again apply to receive care in Taiwan. They are allowed to travel with up to two companions, as long as they have a health insurance certificate, an affidavit for mandatory quarantine, a health declaration document that declares they are not infected with Covid before they embark on their trip (via a negative Covid-19 RT-PCR test), and a disease prevention plan and treatment plan issued by the medical institution treating the applicant in Taiwan.
Those accompanying the patient must also provide proof of a negative Covid test and undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine. And both the patient and their travelling companions are responsible for the cost of their quarantine (for example at a quarantine hotel), Covid-19 testing, and medical consultation and treatment.
