Infectious patients accepted
SOS International has announced that it is now ‘one of few companies’ that is capable of handling a case of suspected or verified Ebola fever, including transporting the patient into Scandinavia. In the event of a case of verified or suspected Ebola virus disease, SOS International will handle the case according to special procedures, wherein a specialised SOS International doctor will assess the situation and assist the patient, who will be monitored until he/she is cured or repatriated.
Several options of transferring patients locally or internationally – including medical evacuation by air ambulance to Europe – exist dependent on the individual case and the medical indications. However, the patient will only be transported if medically necessary and if the SOS International doctors find the patient transportable.
In case of repatriation, the patient will be admitted to the infectious diseases department in the home country. SOS International has general approval from all Nordic countries to accept a patient with Ebola or suspected Ebola. After repatriation, SOS International does not take further part in the patient's treatment.
