Heathrow to offer six new routes this summer
The new routes will provide travellers with direct access to popular destinations across the globe
London Heathrow, the second busiest airport in the world, has added six new routes to its list with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and Vueling.
The soon-to-be introduced destinations are as follows:
Virgin Atlantic
- Bangalore, India
From 31 March, Virgin Atlantic opens a new route from Heathrow to Bangalore, the ‘Silicon Valley of India’.
Vueling
- Barcelona, Spain
From 7 April, travellers will have more opportunities to visit Barcelona. Last year, over 500,000 passengers travelled to the popular destination from Heathrow.
- Paris-Orly, France
From 7 April, travellers will be able to fly from Heathrow to Paris-Orly, offering access to France’s capital just in time for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The route will be offered for the first time since 2017.
British Airways
- Kos, Greece
From 18 May, travellers will be able to fly from Heathrow to the Greek island of Kos. The route will be offered for the first time since 2022.
- Izmir, Turkey
From 18 May, travellers flying from Heathrow will have the opportunity to visit Turkey’s Aegean coast. The route will be offered for the first time since 2019.
- Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
From 20 April, Heathrow is increasing its service to Abu Dhabi, the Emirati city that is home to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
Ross Baker, Chief Commercial Officer at Heathrow, commented: “This summer, passengers will have even more options to enjoy the sun. We are bringing back popular destinations such as Kos and Izmir, and the additional service to Bangalore and Abu Dhabi opens more opportunities for businesses across the UK. I am sure these new routes will prove popular this summer.”
In February, London’s Heathrow Airport reported its first annual profit for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic four years ago.
