Judges commended the insurtech for its “outstanding innovation”

Travel insurance provider Gigasure was named New Business of the Year at the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards 2025 in London.

Supported by Lloyds Bank, the awards are the UK’s largest business awards programme, celebrating top performers across all industries that have exceeded expectations throughout the year.

Launched in August 2024, Gigasure is a travel-focused managing general agent (MGA) insurtech offering customisable Travel Insurance, Backpackers, and Car Hire Excess insurance policies. Its GigaShield feature provides real-time parametric benefits, including cash payouts and VIP airport lounge access, in the event of flight and baggage delays.

The judges commended Gigasure for its “outstanding innovation, credible leadership, and impressive growth trajectory”. They said that Gigasure represented a “grounded, scalable, and genuinely impressive British success story, combining smart problem-solving with strong commercial results”, and had “quickly established itself as a standout in the UK business landscape”.

Ernesto Suarez, travel insurance expert and CEO of Gigasure, commented: “Gigasure’s core goal is to reshape how travel insurance is perceived and used, not as a rigid requirement, but as a flexible, value-enhancing companion for modern travellers. Our policies are built with innovation at the heart, and we’re thrilled to have been recognised for this by the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards 2025.”

Recent research from Gigasure found that 24% of UK holidaymakers knowingly fail to disclose pre-existing medical conditions when buying travel insurance.
