The unit was developed with support from Mediclinic’s Swiss division, and will offer treatment in a range of specialisms

Dubai’s Mediclinic Parkview Hospital has opened a new Medical Oncology Unit, featuring a team of surgeons specialising in breast, gynaecology, urology, neurosurgical, head, and neck-related interventions.

The unit will offer patients a range of surgical, chemotherapy and immunotherapy cancer treatments, and will feature a range of private rooms for patients.

The unit’s development drew on expertise from Mediclinic Middle East’s sister division in Switzerland, as well as its affiliation with Dubai’s Mediclinic City Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Centre.

“What makes this unit unique is our highly specialised staffing, state-of-the-art equipment and the combined expertise of our twelve organ specific multi-disciplinary teams that tailor customised plans based on the medical need of the patient,” said David Jelley, Hospital Director at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital.

Dr Albert Oliver, the Medical Director at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital added: “We are excited to be able to provide these comprehensive cancer services across Dubai, and we believe that the opening of this new unit represents a major milestone in our commitment to delivering the best available care to our patients and their families, wherever they are located.”

The International Committee of the Red Cross recently inaugurated a new operating theatre at the Juba Military Hospital in South Sudan.
