Cruise numbers predicted to continue rising
Squaremouth reports record numbers of travellers buying cruise cover
New data from Squaremouth, a travel insurance marketplace, reveals that the cruise industry is poised to make a comeback this year. They said that in 2023 more travellers purchased plans with the ‘cruise’ filter than any year in the company’s 20-plus year history, and they predict this trend will continue in 2024.
The momentum has been building over the past three years. Last year, travellers bought cruise insurance policies in record numbers. Squaremouth reported a 29% increase in cruise sales over 2022, and a 200% increase over 2021, and said that according to a recent survey, 26% of customers are taking a cruise on their next trip, compared with 20% in early 2023.
According to new research, there has been an increase in cruise travel insurance claims for missed ports.
