The new benefit promises instant, automated support for Irish customers facing travel disruption

Cover-More Europe has introduced a parametric flight delay benefit, powered by Blink Parametric, through its Annualtravelinsurance.com brand in Ireland. This is the first parametric product the company has brought to market.

With this new offering, once a customer registers their flight in advance, any delay of three hours or more will trigger an automatic benefit: a VIP airport lounge pass or a €30 instant cash payout, delivered in real time.

The new benefit is available to all customers with Super or Super Plus travel insurance policies on Annualtravelinsurance.com, for both single-trip and annual multi-trip plans. Travellers who register their flight before departure are automatically covered.

Blink Parametric’s platform monitors flight data globally, and if a qualifying delay occurs, travellers receive an immediate notification with options for how to proceed. No paperwork or manual claim submission is required.

The benefit is intended to make travel disruptions easier to manage by offering clear options and real-time responses. It reflects Cover-More Europe’s ongoing efforts to introduce practical improvements for Irish travellers.

Jason Whelan, Managing Director of Cover-More Europe, Ireland, commented: “Having travel insurance already gives peace of mind, but being able to provide instant support like a lounge pass or cash payout right when it’s needed makes a real difference.”

Richard Pollard, Director of Strategic Accounts at Blink Parametric, added: “Uniting two forward-thinking organisations, this initiative is driven by a shared commitment to redefining the travel insurance experience.”

Jeff Rutledge, CEO of Zurich Cover-More, recently spoke to ITIJ about how shifting traveller behaviours and geopolitical issues are shaping the travel industry.
