Global insurance company Chubb is increasing its focus in Asia by appointing three new people in leadership roles
Edward Ler replaces Glen Browne as Head of the Southeast Asia division and will be responsible for overseeing business in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
With 18 years’ experience in the insurance industry, Ler has held a variety of roles during his career covering the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Europe. He will relocate to Singapore and continue to report to the Regional President for Asia Pacific, Paul McNamee.
Meanwhile, the company’s Regional Head for Accident & Health, Ed Kopp, will replace Ler and return to Korea as Country President for general insurance. Mr Kopp joined Chubb in 2012 and has more than 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry as well as a strong track record of building sustainable, profitable businesses across Asia.
Ben Howell, who is currently the Deputy Regional Head of Accident and Health, will replace Mr Kopp as Regional Head of Accident and Health for Asia Pacific. He will continue to be based in Singapore and will be responsible for the management and development of the accident, health and travel insurance business in the region.
What does this mean for the company?
These changes to the company’s structure mean that Glen Browne will take on the role of Division President of Conumer Lines, Asia Pacific – a newly created position that will enable him to oversee accident, health and personal lines business in the region.
Paul McNamee, Regional President for Asia Pacific said these developments will help the company provide its solutions in a seamless manner. “The new Consumer Lines division will bring to bear the full breadth of Chubb’s capabilities to deliver the best consumer product and service solutions in a seamless way, and agnostic to the product, channel and delivery method.
“This is a response to the evolving customer and growing partnership dynamics of our business, which will necessitate the sharing of data, technology and talent to deliver superior customer and partnership outcomes.”
This news comes on the back of the company announcing a new travel insurance partnership with global online travel company Travis in [JA1] February which means Chubb can offer comprehensive travel insurance plans to customers using Travix websites when making their travel arrangements.
