Chubb appoints new leadership team for Australia and New Zealand
Chubb has appointed Amy McKellar and Michelle O’Dowd as the new joint leadership team for its Australia and New Zealand (A&NZ) Consumer Division
McKellar, who previously served as Consumer Manager for A&NZ, has been appointed as Chubb’s Head of Accident and Health (A&H) for the region, where she will be responsible for the strategic direction, management, growth and profitability of the A&H portfolio.
She has been with Chubb since 2006, and worked as Regional Underwriting Manager for A&H for the US Midwest between 2013 and 2017; led Chubb’s A&H portfolios for New York and the US Northeast between 2017 and 2019; and as Underwriting Lead for A&H upon her return to Australia in 2021.
O’Dowd, previously Chubb's Head of Personal Risk Services (PRS) for A&NZ, will oversee growth plans for the Chubb Home and Chubb Masterpiece policies in the two countries. She previously worked across several sales and underwriting roles for Chubb in both Canada and Australia.
“Chubb's consumer division has seen tremendous growth over the last three years in response to our disciplined underwriting approach and award-winning claims service. Amy's deep expertise in A&H will enable Chubb to continue meeting the expanding needs and service expectations of this rapidly evolving market,” said Peter Kelaher, A&NZ Country President.
He added that: “Under Michelle’s leadership over the last three years, Chubb has cemented our position as an insurer of choice for individuals and families in Australia and New Zealand whose higher value homes and assets require enhanced cover.”
Chubb also recently entered a partnership with Royal Brunei Airlines to offer travel insurance to the airline's passengers earlier this month.
