CAMTS announces CAMTS EU

The US-headquartered Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) recently registered CAMTS EU in Europe and Switzerland. Eileen Frazer, executive director of the organisation, explained: “CAMTS EU is a standalone non-profit organisation that will be based in Switzerland with the same mission, vision and values as CAMTS. This new organisation will provide availability and focus on international policies and practices. CAMTS EU was created to better serve our constituents outside of North America, recognising not only cultural differences, but government restrictions and laws of other countries while maintaining the integrity of the process of the US and Canada.”
CAMTS EU is a registered trademark and the first organisational meeting will be held on 6 November in Zurich. On the board already is Stefan Becker of the European HEMS & Air Ambulance Committee, while other multinational and European organisations that represent groups of medical transport services of professionals have also been invited to apply for representation on the board.
Dr Alasdair Conn, acting chairman of CAMTS, and representing the American College of Surgeons, said: “It’s important that we have the right mix of representation of the CAMTS EU board. We look at the CAMTS standard as being written by the professionals that provide medical transport services every day. We truly want and encourage organisations to provide comments and be involved in the entire CAMTS and CAMTS EU process.”
