Brazil sees record growth in UK visitor arrivals

Rising UK demand and record European arrivals underline Brazil’s growing appeal as a long-haul destination, creating new opportunities for travel providers supporting international journeys

Brazil welcomed 97,677 British tourists between January and May 2026, an 11.23% increase on the same period in 2025 and the highest UK arrivals figure for the first five months of any year on record.

The growth reflects wider European demand, with arrivals from the continent up 17.21% year on year from January to May. May alone saw European visitor numbers rise 14.59%, the best result for the month since 2015.

The figures underline growing opportunities for travel businesses targeting long-haul trips to Brazil, as the country expands international promotion and partnerships with tour operators and trade media.

Bruno Reis, President of Embratur/Visit Brasil (Brazilian Tourist Board), said: “This growth reinforces the effectiveness of international promotion and confirms Europe as a priority market for Brazilian tourism. We are maintaining a flow of international visitors equivalent to last year’s historical record, now accompanied by more qualified indicators, such as longer stays, higher average spending, and a more distributed presence throughout the national territory.”

Brazil recorded 4,819,685 passenger arrivals between January and May 2026, the second-best performance for the period in its history, as demand from international markets continues to grow.
