Aussietravelcover expands cover in product overhaul
Aussietravelcover adds financial default protection and extends key medical, cancellation and trip-duration benefits, while retaining agent-focused support measures
Aussietravelcover is overhauling its travel insurance offering starting from 22 September, adding financial default protection and expanding medical and cancellation cover.
The updated product will introduce Financial Default Protection on International Top Plus, alongside a broader range of automatically covered medical conditions and revised eligibility criteria.
Multi-Journey policies will offer new maximum trip durations of 45, 60, and 90 days, while the maximum domestic cancellation cover will increase to US$20,000 per policy.
The overhaul also includes a 72-hour incidental stopover allowance for eligible stopovers, regional destination selection, and clearer guidance on cruising in Australian waters. Covid-19 cover will be incorporated into relevant sections across all plans.
Amanda Belcastro, Aussietravelcover National Sales & Operations Manager, said the changes were focused on supporting travel agents.
“We know agents have a wide range of options when it comes to travel insurance. Our role is to continuously improve our offering, make it easy for agents to work with us and look for practical ways we can support their business.”
The insurer will also continue to absorb credit card fees on customer payments processed through its fuse Agent Portal, meaning the costs will not be passed on to travel agencies.
The updated product will be available through Aussietravelcover’s agency network from 22 September, giving agents access to expanded cover options and revised policy features ahead of the new product launch.
Australian travel to Japan rose 8.5% in the year to July, amid strong growth in several major Asian destinations.
