Arch expands employee benefits portfolio with annual travel insurance cover

The new group benefits offering reflects growing demand for year-round travel protection as insurers broaden workplace insurance programmes

Arch Insurance North America has expanded its employee benefits portfolio with the launch of an annual travel insurance product designed to provide year-round cover for employees and their families during personal leisure travel.

The annual travel insurance policy forms part of a wider voluntary benefits suite introduced by the insurer, alongside accident medical expense reimbursement and hospital cash indemnity products.

However, the inclusion of travel insurance reflects the growing role of travel protection within employer-sponsored benefits programmes as insurers respond to changing workforce expectations.

The annual policy provides cover for multiple leisure trips taken throughout the year following a single enrolment, with benefits including trip cancellation and interruption, emergency medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation, baggage delays, and other travel-related risks, subject to policy terms and limits.

Unlike standalone travel insurance purchased before each trip, the annual group product is offered through employers as a voluntary employee benefit, allowing staff to access travel protection alongside other workplace insurance programmes.

Increasingly, insurers are positioning travel insurance as part of broader financial wellbeing and employee benefits strategies, recognising that workers value protection extending beyond the workplace and into their personal lives.

The approach also reflects changing travel patterns. As hybrid working, flexible lifestyles, and more frequent short leisure trips become commonplace, annual multi-trip products can offer a convenient alternative to purchasing single-trip policies for each journey.

Rebecca Raisley, Vice President of Accident Strategy and Business Development at Arch Insurance, said: “Employees increasingly value benefits that provide meaningful financial protection both at home and while travelling. From helping reimburse accident-related out-of-pocket medical expenses to offering year-round travel protection for personal trips, these solutions give employers an opportunity to provide benefits that employees can use in their everyday lives.”

For insurers, workplace distribution represents another avenue for expanding travel insurance uptake beyond traditional direct-to-consumer and intermediary sales channels.
