ANV agrees acquisition of travel protection MGA Assured Underwriting Group

The deal would strengthen ANV’s position in the travel protection market as demand for insolvency and financial failure solutions continues to evolve

Global insurance intermediary platform ANV has agreed to acquire specialist travel protection managing general agent (MGA) Assured Underwriting Group (AUG), expanding its presence in the UK and European travel insurance markets.

London-headquartered AUG specialises in insurance-backed financial protection products for tour operators, including travel bonds and financial failure insurance. The company also advises travel businesses on meeting insolvency protection requirements under UK and European package travel regulations.

Travel bonds play a key role in enabling tour operators to meet statutory financial protection obligations, providing reassurance that customers will be protected if a travel organiser becomes insolvent.

Alongside financial failure insurance, these products form an important part of the risk management framework underpinning the package travel market.

AUG, founded in 1983, serves more than 1,600 clients across over 10 European countries and has expanded its operations beyond the UK into markets including France and Germany.

The business is led by Chief Executive Richard Watson and Chief Operating Officer Walter McCulloch, who will continue to lead the company following the proposed acquisition.

ANV said the business would become part of its Credit & Protection segment, complementing its existing portfolio of specialist MGAs across the UK, Europe, and the US.

AUG’s expertise extends beyond underwriting, with the company providing consultancy services to tour operators on the complex financial protection regimes governing package travel in both the UK and the European Union (EU).

The transaction remains subject to approval by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority and is expected to complete during the third quarter of 2026.
