American Airlines unveils seven new international routes for 2027

American Airlines is expanding its international network for summer 2027 with seven new routes, three new destinations, and extended seasonal services, giving travel advisers and their customers more options across Europe and Asia.

The airline will add Porto, Reykjavik, and Vienna to its network from Philadelphia, with daily summer service. Porto, Portugal, and Vienna, Austria, will be new destinations for American, while Iceland’s Reykjavik returns for the first time since 2019. American will be the only US airline serving Vienna, with the Philadelphia route extended until early January 2028.

New transatlantic links will also include New York JFK–Amsterdam and JFK–Nice, while Charlotte, North Carolina, gains a new nonstop route to Barcelona, Spain. In Asia, Chicago will connect directly with Tokyo Narita from 19 March, timed to meet demand for Japan’s cherry blossom season. Customers will also be able to connect onward across East and Southeast Asia through American’s partnership with Japan Airlines.

American will extend the season on Charlotte–Paris and Miami–Milan, with both routes launching on 4 March 2027. The airline will also restore a fourth daily JFK–London Heathrow service, giving American and British Airways up to 14 daily flights between New York and London.

“Coming off a summer of celebration, American is growing to offer new destinations and routes, bolstering our premium global route offerings,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning.

Meanwhile, Etihad has expanded its African connectivity with three new airline partnerships.
