Indian budget airline AIX Connect, formerly known as AirAsia India, will offer domestic travel insurance via its booking process

The optional, embedded insurance offering is provided in partnership with Tata AIG General Insurance Company – a joint venture between the Tata Group and American International Group.

Comprehensive cover is purchasable for a fee of ₹149 (US$1.81) via the AIX Connect website and app, with coverage in all destinations across the airline’s domestic network. The policy will also have opt-in coverage for additional people between the ages of 18 and 70, who hold a valid Indian passport.

Group Domestic Travel Assure insurance covers:

  • Loss of checked-in baggage
  • Common carrier delay
  • Trip interruption/cancellation
  • Missed connection
  • ₹100,000 emergency medical evacuation
  • Accident only medical expenses
  • Accidental death (Common carrier only)
  • Permanent total/partial disability
  • Key replacement.

“The travel insurance has been curated for us by Tata AIG General Insurance Company Ltd with provisions to cater to multi-risk case scenarios owing to personal accidents or other circumstances which may arise during travel,” said Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer at AIX Connect.

“Travelling always involves a certain level of risk, be it short or long trips, as unforeseen circumstances can occur at any time,” added Parag Ved, President and Head of Consumer Lines at Tata AIG General Insurance Company. “We are delighted to be associated with AirAsia India for this one-of-its-kind travel insurance policy offering that will benefit both business and leisure travellers.”

Elsewhere, CPP Secure and Blink Parametric have launched a standalone parametric insurance product for delayed or lost luggage.
