Air traffic controller strikes to affect French airports
The strikes have been organised by French air traffic controller union SNCTA, and are expected to cause significant disruption
Strikes are due to affect French airports on 7–10 October, potentially affecting tens of thousands of passengers flying across Europe.
The strike, organised by French air traffic controllers belonging to the SNCTA union, will run from Tuesday morning until the morning of Friday next week.
The walkout is in relation to a number of complaints from the union, including demands for pay rises due to inflation, and alleged “mistrust, punitive practices, and brutal managerial methods” within air traffic control governance.
Speaking to Sky News, Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary forecast that around 100,000 passengers would be affected by next week’s action, and that his own airline expected to cancel around 600 flights on Wednesday and Thursday.
It follows similar strikes by French air traffic controllers earlier this year.
