Air Doctor raises $20 million in Series B funding round
The funding will be used to support Air Doctor’s expansion into Asian markets
The funding round was led by aMoon, an investment fund focused on healthtech and life sciences.
Additional contributions came from strategic investors such as Tokio Marine Holdings, Samsung Ventures, and current shareholders Lightspeed Venture Partners, Vintage Investment Partners, Phoenix Insurance, and Munich Re Ventures.
The money will be used to support Air Doctor’s ongoing expansion into Asia, and solidifying its position in the global travel health market.
Air Doctor is a telemedicine app that connects travellers to a network of over 20,000 multilingual doctors and other specialists in 84 countries, with the aim of improving access to medical care while users are overseas.
“Air Doctor ensures healthcare is easy to access for travellers, while reducing exorbitant medical bills usually footed by insurers,” said Jenny Cohen Derfler, CEO and Founder of Air Doctor. “We are excited to have the backing of investors who share our vision for the future.”
Todd Sone, General Partner at aMoon, added: “We pride ourselves on investing in cutting-edge technologies that transform industries, and Air Doctor is doing just that by leveraging advanced algorithms and app-based solutions to provide timely, quality medical care for travellers worldwide.”
Cathy Hudson explored the use of telemedicine in the Asia-Pacific region in the June 2024 issue of ITIJ.
