Additionally, there is the potential for new provider reimbursement models. Initially, most of the changes will not impact our international travellers, expats, or maritime clients directly. The key is staying flexible. Our team is staying focused on spotting opportunities where we can adapt to emerging changes and use them to the advantage of our clients.

Travel is a huge factor that our industry is dependent on. International travel is expected to continue growing in 2025 as more people cross borders for work, leisure, and even medical care. Analysts are forecasting an upward trend, driven by the ongoing global recovery and the demand for cost-effective treatment options abroad. However, safety concerns, especially following high-profile incidents like plane crashes, can make some travellers hesitate and have an impact. The key to maintaining confidence lies in robust safety measures and transparent communication from airlines and travel operators. We’re seeing insurers lean into telehealth and global assistance programmes to help travellers access care quickly, no matter where they are, giving peace of mind to those who desire to venture abroad.

That’s a biggie. Global medical inflation is a constant challenge, and international insurers are feeling the pressure. It’s forcing everyone to rethink their strategies – whether that’s renegotiating provider contracts, leveraging tech to streamline admin costs, or even exploring alternative payment models.
