MedCube – setting a new standard in medical transports
Thorkild Lykke, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer at MedCube, talks to ITIJ about the business
What is MedCube?
MedCube is the breakthrough platform that reimagines medical transports for today’s challenges. For the first time, hospitals, assistance coordinators, transport providers, medical escorts, patients, and families all connect seamlessly – regardless of transport mode. MedCube consolidates everything on one secure digital platform, eliminating inefficient emails, scattered calls, and multiple messaging apps.
With end-to-end encrypted communication, sensitive data is shared instantly and safely between authorised parties. This streamlining not only saves critical time in complex evacuations and repatriations but allows all stakeholders to focus on what really matters: superior patient communication and operational excellence.
What inspired MedCube’s creation?
MedCube was born from the frontline experience of WeCoverCare, a leader in Nordic-speaking medical escorts. Frustrated by outdated coordination tools and the risk of communication breakdowns, the company’s founders set out to create real-time visibility on staff and skillsets, instant booking, and secure messaging – all in one unified portal.
The results were undeniable. MedCube quickly outgrew its origins to become an independent solution. As Chief Medical Content Officer Gøran Græsholt explains: “I couldn’t just watch the lack of integration hold our industry back. It was time to act.” After initiating MedCube in 2023 and bringing on new innovators in 2024, the mission became clear: drive meaningful, lasting change for the whole sector.
What is Climate Impact Containment?
Traditional cost containment remains vital, but it’s no longer sufficient. Insurers now expect not only financial discipline but also measurable environmental responsibility – what MedCube calls ‘Climate Impact Containment’.
MedCube is ahead of the curve by identifying ‘co-transportable’ patients across organisations whose transports can be combined based on route, timing, and medical requirements. This proactive coordination yields dramatic reductions in both operational costs and CO2 emissions, all tracked and reported with clinical precision.
While the MedCube team pioneered manual patient grouping for climate benefits over a decade ago, today’s platform automates and scales this practice. Climate Impact Containment, once aspirational, is now actionable – and MedCube puts it within every organisation’s reach.

How easy is it to integrate MedCube?
MedCube was designed to fit flexibly into virtually any digital ecosystem. It can integrate fully with existing case management and fleet software, eliminating data entry duplication and minimising human error. But for firms without legacy integration, MedCube also operates as a powerful standalone solution.
This adaptive approach means faster onboarding, rapid return on investment, and an open door to ongoing digital evolution. MedCube gives organisations the tools to move quickly, deliver green results, and stay ahead of tomorrow’s demands.
MedCube is more than a platform – it’s leadership in action. The future of medical transport is secure, connected, and climate responsible. With MedCube, that future is here.
