Daydreaming of the wonderful world of lost baggage, delayed flights and rude immigration staff
Editor-in-Chief Ian Cameron weighs up this month's news
Once again, this month’s issue is jammed full of news of new offerings of Covid-19 cover by everyone and their dog - insurers (obviously), airlines, hotels, cruise lines and even countries.
But with the worldwide travel industry virtually on its knees, there is some more positive and interesting reading on this month’s pages.
It would appear that the world’s airlines (and airports) have finally concluded that they are going to get very little help from governments around the world and are starting to take matters into their own hands.
Moves by airlines and airports to introduce positive measures such as Covid-19 testing before and after departure can only have a positive effect on how travel is viewed and, assuming its success, should help to persuade governments and countries to allow travel restrictions to be eased in the coming months.
Not that I would ever let this column (sorry, rant) ever get political but, hey, let’s face it, there are a few governments around the world who haven’t exactly got to grips with how to handle a pandemic, or, to use the rather cruder phrase, ‘couldn’t organise a p… up in a brewery’.
So, it’s a BIG “Go, go, go airports and airlines” from us at ITIJ.
We just can’t wait to get back to the wonderful world of lost baggage, delayed flights and rude immigration staff.
Fantastic!!
