CSR – a core value at MCI Assist
Daniel Galán Cuevas, Head of Finance at MCI Assist, tells ITIJ about the importance of corporate social responsibility
AtMCI Assist, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is at the heart of everything we do. It’s not just a strategy, but a fundamental part of our mission to make a positive impact on our employees, the environment, and the communities we serve.
Our commitment spans several key areas, including employee wellbeing, environmental sustainability, local economic support, education, and diversity. By integrating CSR into every aspect of our operations, we ensure that our growth is sustainable, inclusive, and beneficial for all stakeholders.
Tackling key issues with CSR initiatives
MCI Assist has built a comprehensive CSR programme to address some of the most pressing challenges in our industry and society. First we focus on employee wellbeing by promoting sustainable commuting options such as carpooling and bike stations, alongside flexible teleworking policies.
These initiatives not only improve work-life balance, but also support a healthier and more productive workforce. We also emphasise local economic support by partnering with neighbourhood businesses. By providing employees with discounts and directing a portion of our spending to community aid programmes, we help strengthen the local economy.
In terms of environmental sustainability, we’ve taken steps to reduce our carbon footprint. Through our partnership with CO2gestión we actively offset carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly practices within the company.
Our education and development programmes ensure that employees have access to continuous learning opportunities. By offering digital and management training we empower our staff to stay ahead in an everchanging business environment.
Finally, diversity and inclusion are crucial to our CSR strategy. We’ve launched gender diversity workshops and cultural exchange events to create an inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and respected.
How we implement our CSR programmes
Our CSR initiatives are built on clear, long-term plans designed to make a measurable impact. For example, in 2023, we expanded our employee wellbeing programmes by introducing self-care kits during heatwaves and enhancing teleworking infrastructure to support work-from-home during health crises.
The results of our CSR efforts have been significant
In local business support, we launched partnerships with businesses like Carmela Restaurant, Pienso Express pet shop, Factory Fit gym, and Travelodge hotels among others.
These collaborations not only provide employees with perks but also direct resources to local economies, creating a positive community impact.
Since 2021 we’ve been committed to environmental sustainability. We have offset over 50 tons of CO2 in 2023 alone, and our energy-saving measures have reduced office energy consumption by 15%.
Our Employee Learning Fund was created to support professional development. Since its launch in 2023, many employees have benefited from digital and management training, boosting engagement and productivity.
Results of our CSR commitment
The results of our CSR efforts have been significant. We’ve reduced our carbon footprint by 20%, improved employee satisfaction, and supported local businesses through direct contributions. Our initiatives have also strengthened workplace culture, with a 40% increase in inclusivity-related employee satisfaction.
At MCI Assist, CSR is a fundamental part of who we are. By focusing on employee wellbeing, environmental responsibility, local economic support, and fostering diversity, we are committed to creating a positive impact on both our internal community and the world around us. Our work continues to evolve, but our mission remains the same: to be a responsible, ethical, and forward-thinking company that puts people and the planet first.
