Celebrating integrity
Celebrating 15 years of John Foster – a pillar of AeroAmbulance and the medical evacuation industry
Fifteen years is not just a span of time. In the fast-paced, high-stakes world of aeromedical operations, it marks a career carved out of precision, passion, and unshakeable purpose. As AeroAmbulance reflects on its past decade and a half of growth, innovation, and life-saving missions, one name consistently surfaces: John Foster. Today, we recognise John with gratitude, respect, and a reminder of what his journey has meant for the crew, the patients, the company, and the whole industry.
From early ambition to operational pillar
When John Foster first walked into AeroAmbulance in 2010, he carried more than just qualifications. He brought a mindset: that every minute up in the air, every coordination on the ground, every life touched mattered.
His colleagues still talk about those early days: weathered first flights, the painstaking crafting of SOPs, the late hours ensuring that not a single protocol was overlooked. What many saw as mundane (“just the paperwork”, “just the checklist”) John saw as vital: the difference between chaos and calm, between risk and trust.
And that vigilance has never faded. Even today, John is known for ‘playing police’ – closely tracking operations, double-checking every detail, and stepping in to correct things even when it falls outside his official remit. For him, AeroAmbulance is more than a workplace, it’s his baby. He lives and breathes the industry, and that dedication is felt across every department.
The aeromedical industry throws you curveballs: weather, remote locations, regulatory hurdles, unforeseeable medical emergencies. Over the years John has become a master at turning obstacles into design-points. Many missions require navigating airspace permissions, local medical facility standards, customs, and more. John's capacity to anticipate, build relationships in different jurisdictions, and coordinate flawlessly has been essential. Patients have touched home soil sooner – and in more stable condition – because of this.

His legacy: lives, lives saved, and lives supported
What do 15 years of dedication translate to? Numbers, yes. But more than stats, there are stories of patients reconnected with their families.
Beyond the patients, his influence ripples through collaborator organisations: hospitals, governments, aviation authorities. He has elevated expectations, raising AeroAmbulance’s reputation and helping shape best practices across the region.
What drives John Foster
People often ask: after so many years, what keeps John going?
- A steadfast belief that every mission is personal. The patient on board isn’t an anonymous case, they are someone’s mother, child, spouse
- A respect for punctuality. He often reminds us: “If you are early, you are on time. If you are on time, you are late. And being late is not acceptable”
- A curiosity about what’s possible and what’s coming. Whether it’s new patient-monitoring technologies, more fuel-efficient flight planning, or advanced training methods, John’s radar is always scanning the horizon.
A collective thank you
To commemorate 15 years is not simply to mark time – it is to celebrate persistence, integrity, and vision. From all of us at AeroAmbulance, from the patients whose lives you’ve carried through turbulence and uncertainty, and from the colleagues who rely on your steadiness: thank you, John Foster.
Your career is more than a professional achievement – it’s an inspiration. Here’s to 15 years of excellence, and to the many more missions ahead.
