AXA Global Healthcare launches simplified China plan with pre-existing condition cover
A new mainland China health insurance plan from AXA Global Healthcare removes deductibles, simplifies underwriting, and expands access to cover for pre-existing conditions
AXA Global Healthcare China has launched the SmartCare Essential Pro Plan, a mainland China product removing out-of-pocket costs, simplifying applications, and enabling access to pre-existing condition cover.
Launched in Shanghai at an event attended by more than 20 intermediaries, the plan is part of AXA Global Healthcare’s strategy to strengthen its premium healthcare offering for globally mobile individuals in a key growth market.
It responds to demand for simpler underwriting and improved access for customers with pre-existing conditions. From the fourth year of continuous renewal, verified pre-existing conditions become eligible for cover, and deductibles are removed for covered services within the coverage area.
The application process has been redesigned for intermediaries: customers complete a three-question medical questionnaire and receive immediate policy issuance after payment, with no manual underwriting.
Fred Ding, Managing Director of AXA Global Healthcare China, said: “The SmartCare Essential Pro Plan reflects our wider ambition to be the leading provider of premium international healthcare for globally mobile individuals, and China remains central to that.”
Karim Idilby, Chief Growth Officer at AXA Global Healthcare, said: “China is a strategically important market for AXA Global Healthcare, and this launch reflects our commitment to developing products across key markets that respond to what intermediaries and their customers actually need. Removing barriers to access, whether that’s underwriting terms or the application process itself, is central to how we’re building our global offering.”
The SmartCare Essential Pro Plan is insured by AXA Tianping Property & Casualty Insurance Company and is available only in mainland China.
