SafetyWing launches Remote Health cover for globally mobile employees
Norwegian-based tech startup SafetyWing, which provides medical insurance for digital nomads, has launched a global health insurance plan for employees, Remote Health
Founded in 2017, SafetyWing launched its Nomad Insurance product in 2018 and has since provided cover for almost 20,000 individuals working outside of their home country.
It’s latest offering, Remote Health, enables companies to provide comprehensive cover – including hospital charges, cancer treatment, reconstructive surgery, emergency ambulances, in-patient surgery and newborn coverage – for their entire teams, across 175 countries, under a single insurance plan.
“As a fully remote team of 12, we are firm believers in the value of distributed workforces and flexible work. People no longer wish to be limited to a physical office or location and thanks to technological advancements, this is no longer a requirement to make a business work,” said Sondre Rasch, SafetyWing CEO and Co-Founder.
Rasch went on to explain that while social safety nets and insurance are mostly national, remote workers are global, and many are currently going unprotected. “SafetyWing is now able to insure entire teams, wherever they are in the world and wherever they move,” he added. “The launch [of Remote Health] marks a significant milestone in our journey towards building a global social safety net for the workforce of the future, similar to the one we have at home in Norway.”
