New Partners HealthCare CEO to revolutionise healthcare
Boston, US-based non-profit hospital and physicians network Partners HealthCare has named Dr Anne Klibanski President and CEO. She was named interim President and CEO in February, and in this role oversaw several major initiatives, including Partners 2.0 and a number of high-level board task forces that sought to examine crucial strategic and operational issues at the company. Prior to this, she served as Chief Academic Officer for the company and has also held the role of Chief of Neuroendocrine at Massachusetts General Hospital. In the new role she succeeds Dr David Torchiana, who served as President and CEO since March 2015.
Scott Sperling, Chair of the Partners HealthCare Board of Directors, commented on Dr Klibanski’s suitability for the role: “Over the past several months, it has become increasingly clear to each member of the board that Anne is the ideal leader for Partners as we move forward together as a truly integrated system. Anne has done an outstanding job of managing this large and complex system as we continuously work to provide care of exceptional quality at the lowest possible cost. Her long and extraordinary experience and leadership in research and teaching is so important to a system that is the global leader in life sciences research and the educator of the next generation of doctors and health system leaders. Her commitment to serving the unmet need of our local communities is crucial. It became obvious to us that any search was going to lead us right back to Anne.”
“Partners HealthCare is a great organisation, but I believe we can be even better,” said Dr Klibanski. “In recent months members from hospital boards across the system have started to work together in a way we have not seen before at Partners. I am honored to have the opportunity to realise the full potential we have to transform healthcare and make it better for patients and families everywhere.”
