Mental health top concern for UK
Healthwatch, a UK health and care watchdog, has found that, for UK citizens, the quality of mental health services is a major priority.
According to Healthwatch, people want to see better care and support for children and young people, as well as getting conditions diagnosed in a timely fashion. Healthwatch spoke to 152 local branches of its organisation, finding that 65 per cent of those surveyed put mental health services at the top of their concerns for 2018.
Adult social care, particularly for the elderly and their carers, was the second area that needs improvement in 2018, with 51 per cent of Healthwatch local branches planning to work on the issue over the next 12 months; services working better together followed third in the list.
“We want to see all working in health and social care make it their personal New Year’s resolution for 2018 to work with people as partners in designing the future of services,” said Imelda Redmond, national director of Healthwatch England.
