Infectious diseases in Venezuela
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned against all nonessential travel to Venezuela due to infectious disease outbreaks.
In addition to experiencing disease outbreaks and lacking adequate healthcare, the country is experiencing shortages of food, water, electricity, medicine and medical supplies. This has contributed to an increasing humanitarian crisis affecting much of the country.
CDC said that if people must travel to Venezuela, they should protect themselves by: making an appointment with a travel medicine specialist or their healthcare provider to get needed vaccines and medicines at least four to six weeks before they depart; packing a travel health kit containing prescription medicines and over-the-counter medicines; and monitoring the Department of State’s Travel Advisory and Alerts for Venezuela.
