Cover-More launches travel app in New Zealand
The app provides travellers with a range of services, such as GPS tracking, travel alerts and assistance access
Cover-More App has been launched in New Zealand by Cover-More Travel Insurance.
It has already had 55,000 downloads in Australia, where it’s been available since last year.
The app supports travellers by being a support tool, featuring opt-in GPS tracking and inputs from security analysts. Other services the app provides include timely travel alerts and immediate assistance access.
Will Ashcroft, Managing Director of Cover-More New Zealand, explained that the app’s capabilities were recently demonstrated during the Turkey earthquake, whereby the technology allowed its assistance team to quickly locate and reach out to users affected.
Ashcroft said: “With the push of a ‘big red button’, travellers can access Cover-More Assist 24/7 and our emergency team of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and security experts can swing into action right across the world.”
The app also provides pre-emptive warnings in cases of impending dangers, such as approaching cyclones, enabling travellers to receive timely advice for evading potential hazards.
Additionally, it allows users to access their insurance documents and policy information offline, as well as detailed country and city reports to inform the travellers about where they’re going.
The app also has GPS tracking – active only during trip dates – which enables personalised alerts based on their location. The alerts are informed by security analysts and an artificial intelligence (AI) engine monitoring various sources for potential threats.
“This gives near-real-time targeted alerts, based on exact location, which is a really powerful piece of value for travellers who are going places they may not necessarily be that familiar with. It gives peace of mind for our customers, keeping a watchful eye over them,” Ashcroft said.
Cover-More Travel Insurance recently won the 2023 ITIJ Award for Travel Insurance Production Innovation for its app.
