Cover Genius partners with Air Malta
Embedded travel insurance specialist Cover Genius has partnered with Air Malta to offer customers protection as part of the airline’s online booking process
Air Malta will integrate Cover Genius’s global distribution platform XCover into its website, enabling customers to be offered protection against trip cancellation due to sickness or injury (including Covid-19); baggage or electronics loss due to damage or theft; and 24/7 assistance and emergency medical treatment in the event of an accident.
Announcing the partnership, Air Malta cited a survey commissioned by Cover Genius and conducted by Momentive.ai, which found that customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) are highly dissatisfied with traditional travel protection. The same survey found that customers were most satisfied when they purchased protection from their travel provider.
Respondents cited convenience and the avoidance of ‘second steps’ in having to buy protection after the initial ticket purchase as the key reason why 40 per cent of EMEA travellers preferred embedded protection.
Cover Genius announced a similar partnership with Irish airline Ryanair in December 2021. The company also revealed that it had surpassed 10 million policy sales via its platform in February 2022.
