Cigna Hong Kong rolls out Covid vaccine-related benefits
Cigna Hong Kong has extended its Covid benefits to policyholders in the island state to include cover for vaccination side effects
Not only is coverage for Covid-19 vaccination and its side effects now included, the insurer is also waiving any cost-share arrangements for expenses related to Covid-19 diagnostic tests.
Further to that, Cigna Hong Kong has added a compulsory quarantine cash benefit of HK$2,000 per day to any insured person under Cigna HealthFirst Elite medical plan who is quarantined due to ‘notifiable diseases’, and the insurer will also make an extra one-off payment of HK$2,000 to customers of other medical insurance plans and members of its local employee benefits group schemes for confirmed or suspected Covid-19 infections.
Responding to the global pandemic
“With Covid-19 vaccines now available in Hong Kong, we are pleased to launch new measures to support our customers during this trying time, demonstrating our commitment to provide our customers with peace of mind,” said Jonathan Spiers, Country Manager at Cigna Hong Kong.
The firm has also extended the grace period for premium payments from 30 days to 90 days for policyholders of its medical reimbursement plans who are suspected or confirmed to be infected with Covid-19.
All of the new benefits are available to customers with immediate effect until 31 December 2021.
Over in Europe, Cigna has launched its ‘Whole Health’ strategy – a five-year strategic overhaul to its healthcare plans that it says will help globally mobile employees address the significant disruption to their lives that has been caused by the pandemic.
