APRIL targets expats in France
APRIL International Care, UK-based APRIL Group’s IPMI division, has announced the launch of MyHealth France, a new IPMI policy specifically tailored to the needs of expatriates living in France, both now and in the post-Brexit era, whatever that ends up looking like.
At present, France is home to 1.3 million expatriates of many different nationalities, a number that is projected to increase to 1.5 million within the next two years. Of this group, around 150,000 are UK nationals; they represent the largest single foreign nationality resident in France.
APRIL’s policy has been designed to meet any medical top-up expenses for expats no longer covered by the health system in their original countries – these additional expenses are not generally covered by France’s social security system and can include the cost of a private room in a hospital, dental services and optical treatment. The policy is structured in a modular fashion with five possible levels of cover, so residents can pick the level of protection that they personally require. There is no age limit, and even where there are pre-existing conditions to take into account, there are no related restrictions.
The policy is administered in English and incorporates a direct settlement network for medical expenses of over 150,000 French healthcare professionals, should treatment be required. Policies are taken out individually and premiums are set according to the age of the policyholder.
“This new policy will give considerable comfort and reassurance to UK and other nationals living in France, whilst Brexit negotiations continue,” said Joe Thomas, APRIL International UK’s Managing Director. “Healthcare insurance and healthcare costs in general have emerged as a major concern for all foreign nationals living in France, particularly UK nationals, so this solution should provide a clear way forward.”
